Manufacturing Process

The MAT cylinder for storing high pressure gases is made of special seamless steel tubes, i.e. with no type of welding in its manufacturing process, with a very rigorous control in order to provide traceability from raw material to the finished product, as well as tests performed.

The manufacturing process, referred to as hot spinning, consists in pre-heating the tube ends at high temperatures in order to allow their closure by mechanical deformation, using suitable machinery and tools.

After shaped and machined, the cylinder is subjected to special heat treatment, aiming to achieve the resistance and safety needed to the finished product. In addition to the pressure resistance, tightness, hardness measuring and ultrasound tests that are performed in 100% of the cylinders produced, several destructive tests are performed on samples such as: mechanical tension test, flattening/bending, impact tests at very low temperatures (charpy), cycling and burst test.

After full quality proof of the cylinder , it is certified by an independent well known and reliable international inspection agency, which makes it suitable for commercialization anywhere in the world.
